Amberley Medical Centre has provided a comprehensive respiratory service for many years, which has been proven to be very successful. We invite patients to participate in an exercise program that AMC has been running in conjunction with the CDHB community-based spirometry service.
Asthma and COPD can be very debilitating and can reduce your quality of life. Our program is designed for early and accurate diagnosis and appropriate management and patient education.

We operate an accredited, community-based spirometry service which enables early and accurate diagnosis. This is funded by the CDHB.
Meet the practitioner
Kirsty
Practice Nurse
Kirsty is passionate about nursing, she has completed extra post-grad study and training to become a Registered Nurse Prescriber and is now working through her masters in Nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner.
She is passionate about emergency nursing and helping people find calm in those moments of chaos and also enjoys working with children, particularly in AMCs sick children clinics.
When asked about working at AMC Kirsty said ‘what struck me from day one was the awesome team vibe here. Everyone supports each other and that I think is a big part of what enables us to deliver really great medical care to the community. I enjoy working in a rural community again, as I grew up rurally in Central Otago.’
Kirsty loves mountain biking in her free time and has her own garage gym. She’s also kept on her toes by her two teenage children.
Aim of programme
Our GPs and Nurses can give you a comprehensive assessment (including spirometry
if indicated) and provide education on exercise and medications to improve your lung function and fitness.
