How we can support your sexual health?

Whether you need routine screening, specialist advice, or ongoing management, we are here to help you protect and maintain your sexual health in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

Contraception

Our sexual health nurses can offer advice and services to help you with your sexual and reproductive health.

They can help you decide what form of contraception may be best for you.

  • Condoms
  • Oral contraception
  • Long-acting contraception
  • Long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) is a contraceptive that lasts for a long time. LARCs are the most effective types of contraception. They are more than 99% effective at preventing pregnancy.

Some available LARCs are :

  •  IUCDs
  •  Mirenas
  •  Jadelle implants (insertion and removal)
  •  Depo Provera

You may be eligible for funding for a long-acting contraceptive, please discuss with a clinician.

* Sexual Health consultations are FREE for all enrolled patients aged 14-17 years old.

Emergency Contraception

The Emergency Contraceptive Pill (ECP) is a form of contraception that can be used after unprotected sex.

The ECP is approved to be taken up to 72 hours after sex (three days). However for most people it is still effective up to four days after sex.

Contact us immediately if you are in need of this service.

STIs

Sexually transmissible infections (STIs) are infections that you can get if you have unprotected sex with someone.

There are many reasons why you might want to have an STI test, such as:

  • if you and a new partner are beginning a sexual relationship
  • if you have had unprotected sex
  • if you think you may have an STI
  • if you just want a routine sexual health check
  • if a condom broke
  • if you are pregnant
  • if you have symptoms or just feel something is not right

Ask for an appointment with one of our Sexual Health nurses for testing.

Cervical Screening

Cervical “smear” tests have changed to HPV tests with the option of self-testing. New self-testing option is a simple vaginal swab that you can do yourself.

You will still need to come in and see our nurse for self-screening. If you are due for a test book an appointment today.
