If you're an overseas-trained GP, there are clear pathways to practise in New Zealand, and we'll support you through the process.

• Registration: Doctors from countries such as the UK, Australia, Canada and the USA may be eligible for a streamlined registration pathway. Doctors from other countries may also be eligible if they hold a recognised GP or Family Medicine qualification and relevant experience.

• Support and supervision: Most overseas doctors begin in a provisional scope of practice and work with supervision and support while they become familiar with the New Zealand healthcare system. This period typically lasts 12 to 18 months.

• Visa and residency options: General Practitioners are on New Zealand's Green List, which may provide a pathway to residence once you have secured a suitable job offer.
